Bimosedaa Media & Communications is an Anishinaabekwe-owned small biz walking with other small business owners, non-profits, and grassroots movements to bring communication and design dreams to life.
The name Bimosedaa, meaning “Let’s Walk Together” in Anishinaabemowin, reflects our relational approach to collaboration and storytelling. Our offerings have been curated to meet the unique needs of organizations within our communities. Whether we accompany you for a short time to add capacity to a special project or join you for a longer journey to support the ongoing management of your communications, we will always take the time to understand and steward your story in a good way.
Our success has been and continues to be community-made. As part of our commitment to reciprocity and capacity building, we provide mentorship-style offerings to Indigenous community members on a sliding scale – or free whenever possible. We believe Indigenous stories are best stewarded by Indigenous peoples and are here to support more relatives in entering this industry.
Meet Rosie
Rosalyn Boucha (aka Rosie) is a member of Animakee Wa Zhing First Nation in Treaty 3 Territory and is of mixed Anishinaabe and German-American descent. Growing up on both sides of the medicine line (US-Canada border), Rosie also holds deep roots in Kabekanong (Warroad, Minnesota) on the south shore of Lake of the Woods.
Over the last decade, Rosie has had the privilege of walking with Indigenous and grassroots community organizations to support language revitalization, land-based education, food security, healthcare, and climate justice. Through her work, she has advocated for liberatory harm reduction, 2SLGBTQQIA+ rights, food sovereignty, Indigenous stewardship of cultural seeds, and Land Back.
In 2018, Rosie was shortlisted for a Manitoba Book Award for her illustrations in Hidden Friends: Baapi and the Memegwesiwak. In 2021, she was the featured Creative Contributor in Bravery Mag for her illustrations in the Susan La Flesche Picotte issue.
